Short Biography

Mr. Brown graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in Political Science, cum laude, in 1975. He subsequently attended The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and graduated in 1979. Mr. Brown joined Crabbe, Brown & James in 1979 and became a partner in 1986. Since 1991, Mr. Brown has served as the firm’s Managing Partner. In 1993, Mr. Brown was appointed by the Supreme Court of Ohio as a Commissioner on the Court’s Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. As a member of the Board, Mr. Brown spent a great deal of time hearing cases involving ethics charges against judges and lawyers. Mr. Brown previously served on the advisory board of Rosemont Center (now part of Buckeye Ranch). He currently is a member of the 5/3 Bank Advisory Board (Central Ohio). Mr. Brown’s memberships have included: City of Columbus Development Commission, Computer Law Association, the Columbus and Ohio Apartment Associations, the Columbus Claims Association, the International Trademark Association, the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, the Ohio Farm Bureau and the American, Ohio, and Columbus Bar Associations. Mr. Brown is recognized in “Who’s Who In American Lawyers”, “Who’s Who in Professionals and Business”, and “Who’s Who in Finance and Business.” He was also selected as an “Ohio Super Lawyer”. He has also been recognized in local publications as one of Central Ohio’s Top Lawyers and has an “AV Pre-Eminent” rating from Martindale Hubbell.
